Following on from this decision there has been a significant response in opposition from the Animal Rights fraternity.
The news prompted widespread opposition and has resulted in a multitude of protest initiatives from a range of UK AR groups; Cruelty Free International (CFI) – formerly BUAV is looking at ‘legal options to challenge’ the decision whilst others have taken a similar approach directing appeals to government authorities.
The newly launched social media community Save the Beagles of Yorkshire has also announced a physical demonstration to take place outside the B&K facility in Grimston with suggestions of further events spreading to London and Oxford.
Save the Beagles of Yorkshire has also highlighted alleged vacancies at animal research laboratories in the UK and Europe. The group has previously identified the link between B&K and a staffing and screening agency.
